RadioMaster Boxer vs Boxer Max vs GX12 (ELRS, Mode 2)

The radio is the part you will not replace when you crash the quad. TechHobby lists three current EdgeTX sets that pilots compare. All three are Mode 2 (throttle on the left). None include cells — plan a 2S pack or 18650s that fit the bay.

Transparent Boxer ELRS — ₹20,199

The Boxer transparent ELRS (M2) is the everyday Boxer in a clear shell, with a white LED kit and a neck strap in the package. Internal radio is 2.4 GHz ExpressLRS. Firmware is EdgeTX. The bay takes an external JR-style module if you ever need one. Choose it for a full-size grip and a single band that binds to the nano receivers already on most freestyle quads.

Boxer Max ELRS — ₹32,999

The Boxer Max ELRS (M2) keeps the Boxer shape and adds trim: AG01 CNC hall gimbals, CNC buttons and roller, leather grips, a folding metal handle. Internal radio is still 2.4 GHz ELRS with adjustable output (up to 1W on international firmware, lower on EU LBT). Screen is 128×64 LCD. Size about 235×178×77mm, about 533g. Buy the Max if the gimbals are the point. It does not add a second frequency.

GX12 Gemini-X — ₹17,999

The GX12 Dual-Band Gemini-X (M2) is the compact one: folding sticks, OLED 128×64, about 183×148×78mm and 573g. ExpressLRS Gemini Xrossband can transmit on 2.4 GHz and sub-GHz 900 MHz at the same time through two antennas. That dual-band mode needs a Gem-X receiver. A normal 2.4 GHz nano RX still binds if you stay on 2.4 GHz. In India, treat 2.4 GHz as the default. Confirm local wireless rules before you enable 900 MHz. Use the power limit that applies where you fly, not the maximum the menu allows.

Receivers that match 2.4 GHz

BETAFPV ELRS Nano, GEPRC ELRS NanoSE, or a HappyModel EP1 diversity RX when you want two antennas. Bind steps live in the ELRS checklist. More radios: radio controllers.

The headset is a separate choice: Walksnail Goggles L vs Eachine EV800. Listed prices can change; the product page is current.

Frequently asked questions

Do these radios include batteries?

No. Boxer, Boxer Max, and GX12 ship without cells. Plan a 2S LiPo or 18650 cells that fit the bay.

Can the GX12 talk to a normal 2.4 GHz ELRS receiver?

Yes on 2.4 GHz ExpressLRS. Gemini Xrossband (2.4 plus 900 MHz at once) needs a matching Gem-X receiver and must follow local radio rules.

Which hand is throttle on the M2 versions?

Mode 2: throttle on the left stick. That is the mode TechHobby lists. Most Indian FPV pilots learn on Mode 2.

What is the listed price difference?

On TechHobby the GX12 is ₹17,999, the transparent Boxer ELRS is ₹20,199, and Boxer Max is ₹32,999. Prices can change; check the product page.

Does Boxer Max add a second frequency?

No. Boxer Max is still internal 2.4 GHz ELRS. You pay for AG01 CNC hall gimbals, CNC controls, and leather grips, not dual-band.
